Worldly hope is no hope at all.

There is no hope in the natural life, or in this world. No matter what you do, you will get old and die. All the work of your hands will fade in time, your money loses value each year by inflation alone!

All empires fade and crumble. Mighty Rome fell, and the British Empire is a fading memory to the few who lived in its last days. Pax America is slipping away too, weak leadership, overspending, and corrupt citizens are leading us down the path of destruction. Do you hope for America? An America without reverence for Jesus is dead. Do not hope for the next empire either, it too will wax and wane, all is fleeting with the nations. Europe is failing and China is not as strong as she thinks. Even if a good man appears and pulls America back from the brink, in time she shall fall anyway.

Nothing built by man lasts. Though the pyramids stand for now, they are subject to time as well. They did not protect the treasures of the pharaohs  so their usefulness in the minds of their builders failed. Few things last one hundred years, almost nothing lasts one thousand. All that you give away to your progeny will either not last, or will end up in the hands of others. Families fail much like empires. The first miracle of Matthew was revealed when the family line of Jesus was listed. Lineage that follows the same spirit from first til last is precious. You would likely not truly know your ancestors or descendants if you could meet them.

Even health is not always true. No matter how much you work out, how healthy you may be, in the end it is for nothing as well. Do not place hope in your health, for it fades. Jack Lalanne was famous for fitness and lived til he was 96. Even in the end he succumbed to man’s curse. It is good to care for the body, because God formed it for you and you should respect His gifts, but never place hope in it as a vehicle for eternity.

Finally as a topic we have funny money. For money we will do virtually anything, and we trust it for our futures. We have to retire after all, right? Your money is losing value as we speak unless invested in something that is profitable above the silent inflation tax that is eating at it. All investments are risks and the odds eventually go against you. Gold cannot be eaten during famine, and makes terrible bullets in the face of danger. Money and gold shall not keep you from death. It is still wisdom to not fritter away money on vanities, but it is a tool and not a god.

Ecclesiastes said all things of life were vain, empty, without meaning. The writer, King Solomon (most likely) had more wisdom than any man before or after him, and used that wisdom to gain all that life had to offer, in excesses that are beyond our imaginings. Yet all was vain to him. His final conclusion was:

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Peter in the New Testament wrote much the same about the futility of man and his ambitions.

1 Peter 1:24

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

Thus let there be no hope in man, his empires, his family, his works, his money, nor his health. It all dies and goes away. The point of letting this go is simple, though we must work in all these spheres of life, our focus and our hope are not on them. They are to be on Jesus. Only He promises things that last forever.

1Peter 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

If you do not place your faith on Jesus that He shall save you, then you are much like this life you live. It is temporary, and so will you be as well, having lost life and in anguish in the lake of fire for all eternity. Jesus died to pay your crimes, sins at the cross. He paid with His blood. He was buried, and was resurrected on the third day. Wisdom is this, that if you place your faith on Lord Jesus that He will save you, He will and you will have eternal life through Him. He is the Son of God, and proved it by the resurrection and many other miracles.

Romans 10-9:10

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Believe in your heart that He resurrected, and with your mouth say something like I believe Lord Jesus is the savior, my faith is on Him that He shall save me. It is best to make this confession to a pastor I believe, but regardless, say it out loud. By faith alone placed on Him for your salvation you will be saved and have eternal life. No deed after is required to save you or keep you, your salvation is in Jesus hands.

Thus unlike the worldly, you will have true hope, hope not based on the things that fade in life, but as said, a lively hope built upon Jesus. Thank you for reading, and I hope you shall be blessed by the Father, in the name of Lord Jesus with faith and a life with Him.
